Possible Delta Dental Changes

9/20/2024

Dear Valued Patient,

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones well. We are writing regarding our relationship with Delta Dental.

As insurance enrollment gets underway, we wanted to address a potential change coming to our office in the years to come.  Unfortunately, Delta Dental is making it harder for participating providers to provide optimum care for its members. We are trying our best to work with Delta Dental, but it is becoming increasingly more difficult every year.

What does this mean for you?

  • NO CHANGES in our contract with Delta Dental are being made at this time. Possibly not even for several years.
  • We are bringing this to your attention so that you can explore insurance options other than Delta Dental, to make the transition smoother in the future, if we do make a change.

We are strongly encouraging all of our patients to discuss your dental insurance options with your employer and, if possible, make a change away from Delta Dental. In the future, if we do decide to end our contract with Delta Dental, we will of course give you plenty of advance notice.

What COULD change IF we eventually become an "Out-of-Network" Delta Dental provider?

  • YES! We still would accept Delta Dental so you can use your benefits here.
  • YES! You still can use your annual benefit for your dental care.
  • YES! We still would continue to file your claims as a courtesy.
  • Delta Dental would likely send you a letter informing you that we are now an “out of network provider”. This letter is meant to encourage you to see an in-network provider because that is what is most profitable for Delta Dental.
  • Payment for treatment will be due in full at time of service by check, credit card, or HSA/FSA.
  • Delta Dental would send you the check for your dental reimbursement rather than mailing it to our office. It is one of the few companies with this policy and it is meant to make it difficult for you to seek care outside of their network which is more profitable for them.

Please understand we are only considering making a change to safeguard the same quality of care and customer service that you are accustomed to. Please contact our office with your questions and concerns.

Sincerely,

Shellie Edwards and Ryan Everhart
